Bet Settings
Showcase of a UI for easy manipulation of game bet settings and its impact analysis.
situation
Every game has a default bet setting that it goes out with when released to the operators. Bet settings app allows an operator to customize those settings while knowing the financial impact. The old application was limited in its ways to customize the settings and so a new UI was needed with brand new features as a showcase to operators. The operators liked the concept and the app is in the pipeline for implementation.
task
My job was to come up with conceptual wireframes taking input from stakeholders.
action
What is bet setting?
A bet setting is the different bet amount variations that a player can select from when he spins the slot reels. He could play at a low bet size and win/lose less amount or play at a high bet size and win/lose greater amounts. An operator would want to change the factory settings according to its financial impact. An operator can increase the bet-sizes if he thinks certain game attracts high value players. With that said, an operator would also want to curb the max bet based on what he can payout.
OLD application
In the old app changing these default factory settings was complicated and so many operators did not bother to change the settings themselves. They rather placed a call with software provider to get the job done.
Changing the settings leads to financial exposure to the operator that they need to be aware of before they go ahead with the change. Operator would want to know the payout amount if a player won a jackpot at max bet.
We wanted to empower them with this functionality and so needed a mechanism to easily allow for change of settings while also knowing its impact.
Redesign
The goal was to visualize a new app from scratch that allows users to easily change game bet settings at various levels of customization while also know the financial exposure.
The visual concept has all the possible bet sizes in the game displayed incrementally in a ring. The center of a ring has a area graph that shows the number of players likely to play at each of those settings based on current data. It also offers a graph below that shows current betting patterns of players. This data provides the user with the ability to set a default bet size. The user can also edit the minimum and maximum bet sizes. As he edits any of these settings an exposure value is displayed below each visual that informs the operator the payout amount he would have to give out if a players wins at that bet size. By default each visual displayed the max exposure amount at any point in time.
The app also allows for customization of these bet sizes at overall level as well as for each player group.
Result
The app was showcased in the annual gambling conference and was well received. It is now in the product pipeline.
